Let me start by saying I hope you and your lived ones are safe and well.
After leaving school on Tuesday it took Sally (my wife) 4 hours to get back to our home in Dallington. We were unable to drive across the Gloucester street bridge and so we had to make part of the trip by foot. When we got close to our we discovered that our street had been flooded.
We got home to find my daughter sound asleep ( she was being baby sat by my father in law). Our house was a total mess - everything that could fall over did. Our house was surrounded by silt due to liquefaction.
I am sitting writing this on my iPhone with no power or water
Today some very generous volunteers came and dug up all of the silt.
The main thing is that all my friends and family are safe.
On a positive note Mya took her first step tonight so she will be walking in no time.
Please comment on this post. I would love to know how things are for you and your family.
Just remember that good learners meet their challenges, and the challenges of the last few days are among the biggest you will ever have.

This is all so terribly sad - I am sorry for the damage your house suffered - well done to your daughter on her first steps - kids sure know how to make hard times a bit lighter :)

it is amazing to here all the stories from everyone they are all different but all moving. our family is all safe even though was couple of stressful hours while jarod's sister was missing on the day of the quake, jarod also was of strong belief that outside was much safer : >. house wise we were one of the lucky ones. work wise as a paramedic was stressful, upsetting but rewarding too. i am so glad i was able to help. there are so much cpommunity spirit now as we all pitch in some way to help. glad school is back to normal it has helped emensly in settling kids.
